Hojo Tokiuji (北条時氏)
Tokiuji Hojo was a member of the Hojo clan, who lived during the early Kamakura Period. He was the first son and heir to the third regent of Kamakura bakufu (Japanese feudal government headed by a shogun) Yasutoki HOJO, but died young.
In 1203, he was born as the first son of Yasutoki HOJO (later the third regent of the Shogunate).
In 1221, he joined the army to combat in the Jokyu War, with his father Yasutoki. 1224, as his father returned to Kamakura as the third regent, he went to Kyoto to hold the position of Kitakata (Northern Chief) of Rokuhara Tandai (an administrative and judicial agency in Rokuhara, Kyoto).
Tokiuji was appointed Shuri no suke (assistant officer of the Office of Palace Repairs) in May 1227, and Shugo (Military governor) of Wakasa Province in 1228, then he was expected to be the fourth regent; however in April 1230 he had to return to Kamakura for the sake of illness and died on August 5 before his father's death. He was 28 years old.
Of the fourth regent, Tokiuji's first son Tsunetoki HOJO held the position.

On June 29, 1224, he was assigned to Rokuhara Tandai Kitakata of the bakufu.
On April 20, 1227, he was conferred Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) and was appointed as Shuri gon no suke (Provisional assistant master in the Office of Palace Repairs).
